医学化验技术员s (MLT) play a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and conditions in patients.

The associate of applied technology (AAT) degree can be completed in seven quarters and consists of two quarters of general education courses and five quarters of MLT specific courses.
The MLT courses consist of lectures and laboratories designed to train students in application of knowledge and performance of routine laboratory testing. This prepares students for the final three clinical courses where, either during an on-site simulated lab or off-site rotation in a clinical laboratory, the students achieve entry-level competency in routine testing in all areas of the clinical laboratory. This prepares individuals to work in any clinical laboratory in the country. Students may be required to perform rotations on evening shifts.
Upon successful completion of the program students are eligible to sit for national certification examinations such as the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification Exam (BOC), American Medical Technology (AMT) exam and American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
Students will complete two quarters of general education courses and CAH 110 Intro to MLT with a “C- “or higher prior to being eligible to enroll in the 医学化验技术员 (MLT) coursework. Students may take longer to complete these requirements as necessary. 没有录取程序, the first fourteen students who complete all general education courses and CAH 110 Intro to MLT and register for the MLT courses are in the program. The MLT portion of the program starts in the summer quarter.
Once students enroll in the MLT portion of the degree, it is full time, Monday – Friday. The program is hybrid, meaning that the lectures are online. Students must listen to the lectures and complete quizzes over the material prior to coming to campus for laboratory. A guided discussion is held prior to laboratory to answer questions. Laboratory experiences requires successful performance of all routine procedures performed in a clinical laboratory. All MLT courses must be passed with a “C” or better to progress to the clinical training portion of the program.
Students who are employed in a clinical laboratory may complete the 化验及临床 training portions of the program at their facility if the laboratory administrator agrees to become affiliated with the program. This would require a meeting between the laboratory administrator and the MLT program director as a legal agreement must be signed. Students eligible for the distance learning option are not included in the maximum on campus enrollment of fourteen.
The MLT courses provide students with knowledge and hands-on training in the laboratory departments of phlebotomy/processing, 临床化学, 血液学, 验尿/体液, 血清学, 免疫血液学, 临床微生物学. 成功完成MLT课程后, students will be complete three clinical courses by being placed in an experience, either on-site in a simulated laboratory or off-site in an affiliated clinical laboratory, 达到入门级能力.
